In Loving Memory of
Wendell Freeman  1928 - 2008
WENDELL FREEMAN, 80, of South Point, OH, went to be with
his Lord and Master on Sunday, September 28, 2008, at King’s
Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Funeral services will
be 2 PM  at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home on Wednesday
October 1, 2008 Minister Cecil Crossley officiating. Burial will
follow in Rome Cemetery. Wendell was born July 15, 1928 in
South Point, OH a son of the late Durward Neal and Elsie Gladys
Kinder Freeman. A faithful gospel preacher from the age of 17, he
had a radio broadcast in Clarksburg WV. and authored the book,”
Why Not Broadcast the Gospel?” His tent meetings and revivals
were instrumental in planting numerous congregations throughout
Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Texas. He also spent much
time teaching congregations to sing harmoniously, as well as being
in many quartets, singing groups and appearing on many
recordings beginning from his college years at Abilene Christian
University. The Bible correspondence course,” What Does The
Bible4 Say About…?  has been in continuous use for over 30 years
and has been translated into many languages for use worldwide
His most recent broadcast was in Huntington, WV. Known and
beloved for all these endeavors and more, he was especially
remembered for his unselfish, caring, generous and encouraging
nature In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife Gloria Jean Harris Freeman.   He is survived by daughters
Sherry (Cecil) Crossley, of South Point, OH, Kay Freeman of
South Point, OH, Dell Ann (Stacey) Lobaugh of, OK, and Tammy
(Tim) Philllips of Walker WV; sons Mike (Angie) Freeman, of
Ironton, OH, Kent (Teresa) Freeman of South Point, OH, and
Danny (Melanie) Freeman, of South Point, OH; 18 grandchildren,
4 great grandchildren; brothers Bernard H. and Milton Freeman,
both recently of South Point, OH; many cousins, nieces, nephews,
and a great number of Friends, brothers and sisters-in-Christ, all
dearly beloved and often remembered until his final day. The
family is requesting all who would like to send a remembrance to
please send any funds to the Central Church of Christ, 309 Big
Branch Rd. Chesapeake, OH 45619 in lieu of a floral tribute, to be
used for the distribution of Bibles and Bible correspondence
courses to continue their father’s work. Friends may call Tuesday
September 30, 2008 from 6-8:30 PM at Schneider-Griffin Funeral
