MARY ELLEN BRUCE, age 92 of Nokesville, VA died Friday,
October 23, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Bruce was born
September 5, 1917 in Nelsonville, Ohio, a daughter of the late
Fred Deer, Jr. and Beatrice Perry Deer. She was a member of
Victory Baptist Church, Nokesville. She was also preceded in
death by her two husbands, Arvel Blake and Berkley Bruce and
one granddaughter, Vickie Guilliams. Survivors include her
daughter, Pat Ann Black and husband Ray; one sister, Kathryn
Romans of Florida; one brother, Clifford Deer of Huntington,
West Virginia; one grandchild, Connie Delamater and husband
Dave; grandson-in-law Roger L. Guilliams; six great grandchildren
and two great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends
from 7-9 PM Monday, November 2, 2009 at Pierce Funeral Home,
9609 Center Street, Manassas where funeral services will be held
10 AM Tuesday, November 3, 2009 with Pastor Clinton Owens
officiating. Interment at Highland Memorial Gardens, South
Point, OH on Thursday. November 5, 2009 at 10 AM. In lieu of
flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of
contributions to Capital Hospice, 10530 Linden Lake Plaza, Suite
200, Manassas, Virginia 20109 or the Youth Ministry at Victory
Baptist Church, P.O. Box 88, Nokesville, Virginia 20182 in
