PHYLLIS RAE McCOY KEENEY, 73, of Chesapeake, OH,
passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord and received her
Heavenly body as she was surrounded by her loving family on
Saturday, May 24, 2008 at River’s Bend Health Care, after a
courageous battle with Alzheimers. Funeral services will be
conducted 1 PM Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Schneider-Griffin
Funeral Home with Pastor Carter Henson officiating. Burial will
follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Phyllis was born December 17,
1934, in Branchland, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas and
Florida Ramey McCoy. She was a 1954 graduate of Chesapeake
High School where she received numerous awards and retired from
United Furniture in 1996. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her brothers, James McCoy and Julian
McCoy; and her great niece, Brianna McCoy. Those left to
cherish her loving memories are her husband, John Keeney; her
only child, daughter Rhonda Rae Vance and her companion, Danny
Smith of Chesapeake, OH; her grandchildren, Johnray and Kari
Vance of Chesapeake, OH, and Amanda (Vance) and Shane Pyles
of Proctorville, OH. She was a wonderful “MawMaw” to the loves
of her life, great grandchildren, Baylor (8), Corbin (6), and Garrett
(3) Pyles, and Emily Ann Vance (4). She is also survived by her
siblings, Estel Suiter, Sarah Barrett, Mae Davis, Junior McCoy,
and Carl McCoy; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and
friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Schneider-
Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. Pallbearers will be
Johnray Vance, Shane Pyles, Allen Barrett, Jack Davis, Mark
Graham, Tony McCoy, and Rodger Waller. The family would like
to thank the staff at River’s Bend and Community Hospice of
Ashland for all their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests contributions be made to Chesapeake Christian Church or
Community Hospice of Ashland. You’ll be in our hearts forever
